
The "Jewel of Provence" was constructed in the Renaissance Period. Francois I fortified the city with ramparts (which for the most part are still intact) to protect it from attack...
The charming courtyards and homes throughout are like a fairytale...walking the streets, you can become lost and feel as if you are in another time and place...
The environment of light inspired many an artist...Matisse, Chagall, and Renoir, to name just a few... 
Perched on the hilltop, you may cast your gaze toward the Mediterranean sea, the Alps, and the Esterel mountains. Here is the old cemetery... it is where Marc Chagall is laid to rest in his beloved Provence...

Looking out over the landscape, you can see the light and energy filtering and hovering above the ground...pure magic...;)
