Many times my friends and family will ask me what I am doing on Facebook. It seems to them as if I am engrossed in a mindless activity and giving it way to much attention. Perhaps they feel I should be doing something else...like "doing" something for "them." haha! Well, the time I spend on Facebook or the internet, for that matter, is usually done in a form of research and reflection. (Not to say that I don't enjoy popping around and saying "Hi" to all my friends or playing on Farm Town! ) But, I guess the point I am trying to make is that my interactions on Facebook have served to open me up to the possibilities of the WORLD! I could never have come into contact with so many fascinating and talented people, had I not become a Facebook user. One of my FB friends, David, always says, "Making friends around the world." That is how I feel...and what a fantastic experience that has been!
Now to get to the heart of this post...I am an early riser...even as a child, I would get up before dawn and sit with my Dad as he had coffee and we would just sort of "be there" together. I had a little record player and I would put on the Bambi record and listen to it in complete immersion. "Hi! What's your name? I am T-h-u-m-p-e-r. I am Bambi." There was nothing else in the world but my Dad, the story of Bambi, and me...all cozy in front of the fire. That now serves as a very comforting memory.
Yesterday as I sat down with my coffee in hand...I opened my FB page and one of my friend requests had been answered. Heather K. O'Hara had accepted my request and she had graciously written a note and included several of her links. What a great stroke of synchronicity that she included her August 2009 Newsletter, which was all about her love of Dawn. Her newsletter included poems, inspirational quotes, and a short message she had written called, "Bringing Dawn Down the Mountain." This was her first hand account of how she and her children would go witness the local ranchers "run their horses" down a nearby mountain. Her words completely drew me in and transported me to that hillside with Heather and her children, as "we" watched the stampede of horses running the mountain! Her eloquence and words of wisdom completely transported my mood from feeling a bit out of sorts to focusing on all the good there is for me to open my heart to.
"Aside from the magnificence of it all, what made the experience so extraordinary was that we never once "waited" for the next thing to happen. There was nothing to wait for, we were already there. From the first distant drumming of the hooves-we were inside the sound; inside the movement...inside the magic."
"Our excitement, our anticipation, our awe...WAS the experience."
This was a powerfully written piece that will bring you right into "BEING." It served to elevate me to that place of "BEING" for the rest of the day. I spent a good hour just languishing and loving every moment of my "BEING" there.
Any time you have an opportunity to experience your "BEING," it is time well spent, no matter what others may be saying or thinking. You only have one time...and that is the present.
Love,
Henri
