A short train ride from Paris lies the town of Amboise, located in the Loire Valley. One perfectly splendid day my friend Cheryl and I traveled to this picturesque destination to visit Chateau Amboise. In route, the train ride follows along the Loire River ( the longest river flowing in France, over 170 kilometers). Sitting back it is possible to catch glimpses of French country life and charming villages. The central most part of the Loire Valley is designated as a World Heritage Site and the Loire Valley has been called "The Garden of France." Additionally, the area was ruled by the French Monarchy for several centuries so it is also known as "The Valley of the Kings," with over 1000 chateaux dating from the medieval to the late Renaissance periods.
Today I came across a quote that brought to mind this photo that I snapped of the Loire River whilst standing at the top of Chateau Amboise.
"All rivers are making their way back to the ocean, some rivers get there faster because they take a more direct route, some meander; but, do not be fooled...the river has no choice, it simply is."

Somehow, standing there that day taking this picture...I felt as one with the river.
